The Justice League and Justice League Unlimited
TV series ran on Cartoon Network from 2001 to 2006, featured Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, Green Lantern, the Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl.
From my prospective,
JLU was an adult-themed animated program masking as Y-7 faire featuring seven violent people, who lived violent lives while trying to make the world a better place. They
fought enemies who would have been very happy to kill them, but the seven
themselves didn't cross that line if there was an alternative. But make no mistake about it, people do die on this show.
The seven also fight each other, not physically, but each hero is a strong willed individual who works in a team environment only because it is necessary to accomplish the mission. They are not "Superfriends,"
but rather are "Super co-workers." This, to me, was a different and powerful
change in team dynamics from the Hanna and Barbera "Challenge of the
Superfriends." These relationships are what I write about.
