CBS Unveils the “Supergirl” TV Trailer

supergirlStarring Melissa Benoist in the title role, CBS recently unveiled a six-and-a-half minute long trailer for its fall TV show, Supergirl.

The show, produced by Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg of Arrow and The Flash fame, tells the story of Kara Zor-El, also of Krypton, as she embraces her superhuman abilities. Unlike Smallville, where Clark Kent slowly over 10 years discovers all of his Superman powers, Supergirl comes to us in the first episode pretty much fully formed. That already makes this show a winner in my book.

I liked the trailer a lot, even as I note that the trailer is longer than those of most movies. In a way, that will work for this TV show. Pulling from the pilots of both Superman: The Animated Series and Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, the trailer addresses (and answers) fan questions regarding Kara’s costume and the name “SuperGIRL” itself.

The series will air on Mondays at 8 P.M. on CBS starting in November. This is a show I’m looking forward to seeing.
