But What about the Children?

On November 19, 2009, in Politics, by Bill
  • Sarah Palin runners' world photoOkay, I get that former Alaska Governor Palin calls the Newsweek  cover photo of her, “sexist.”  We all understand that  when she posed for this uncropped photo for Runner’s World magazine she couldn’t have known that this embarrassing photo would be in a national magazine someday. She obviously didn’t think that Runner’s World was a national publication, but that’s beside the point.

Why, I bet if President Obama had been photographed in a running suit with a beefcake pose with his elbow using the American flag as a discarded dish cloth, the Republicans in this country would be asking for his head. Oh wait. They are. So, never mind.

Anyway, the Governor may be right. She didn’t mean to be photographed like that, I’m sure, and she probably didn’t read the model’s release her agent or she signed giving the photographer and Runner’s World exclusive use of the photos for a year.  And she couldn’t have known that Newsweek would buy the photo not from Runners’ World or  the photographer, but from his stock agency. So if Ms. Palin wants to be angry with someone for this “sexist” photo, she should start with the model in the photograph. Governor, if it’s any help, I understand the model can see Russia from her house.
